Highlights
- Calan has another backyard birthday party for #9
- Evan starts kindergarten at CAPE!
Chores: The boys are starting to learn how to put away their own clothes, clean up their own messes, take dishes to sink, tidy up rooms, dust, wipe down surfaces, clean mirrors and strip their own beds. We are just picking a “chore of the day” to keep it simple and manageable.
Getting ready for school has “started” this month. Fun trolley adventure this month. Showing the boys and talking about their new school schedule and what supplies they need was made for some exciting moments.
Mama started fun dinner theme nights which included: Monday Night Foodbowls, Taco Tuesday, Whatever Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, Fast Food Friday, Surprise Saturday and Sunday Special.
8/10 – pool party on actual bday
8/11 – little football camp with keegan
8/14 – beach day in Carp w/ mama and a bunch of friends
8/20 – pool playdate with the Paquettes
Calan
Calan started his new school year without a hitch. It’s almost on “auto pilot” now and easier with Evan at kindergarten most of the day now.
Notable quotes this month:
After telling his math tutor about flying to OR next month, his teacher said, “Oh you’ll be on one of those jets that if you flew it to the sun, it would take 20 years to get there.” Calan thought for a moment, then said “I don’t think I’d be able to sit for that long.”
“When I hit my belly like this (tapping and finding that hallow sound your stomach can make), it means I’m still hungry.”
Dada: “Hey Evan, how come you’re not playing cards with Mama and Calan?”
Evan: “Umm, it’s not my thing”
While doing little math problems on the chalkboard, Evan figured out that 2 minus 2 = 0, after which he exclaimed: “That’s a weird fact!”
Doing chores this month and getting into the routine, Evan stood at the office/guest room door one morning, asking Dada: “Anything need dusting in here?” It was just too cute, him standing there looking eager, holding his little dust cloth.
We didn’t see Evan one morning and called upstairs for him a few times. He called back: “I’m changing my clothes! How would you feel if you were interrupted!”
