Standing in the feeding aisle of the baby section at Target, staring at breast-pump accessories, hearing a strange, eerie, whistle-like – but-louder-like-a-horn sound that seems to be calling and coming from everywhere, but nowhere in particular. Is this in my head, or is this an actual sound found on earth, and not just in the on-screen fantasy world of J.K. Rowling? Feeling as though nymphs or elves, or something equally mystical is about to appear, and turn Target into a scene out of the latest Harry Potter movie. Peeking around the end of the aisle, nothing there, and the woman examining baby products seems oblivious to the ominous calling noise – does she hear it? Suddenly, out of nowhere, a toddler appears at the other end of the aisle, marching and blowing on some sort of noise-making toy, grows tired of it, and puts it right back where it belongs – with the pacifiers. Feeling really annoyed – not sure if that’s because the noise was annoying, or feeling disappointment that wizards and witches and elves will not be descending on Target.
